Does any of this sound like your week?
Your best UGC creator has gone quiet for three days. The hook you briefed came back as a slow unboxing where the product shows up at second nine. Your ad set is still spending on a video that stopped working last Tuesday, and the next batch lands "early next week," which in creator time means Thursday.
Somewhere between the second revision round and the fourth invoice, a MakeUGC ad slides into your feed promising UGC videos "as low as $5."
Here is the part nobody selling AI UGC says out loud: making a video cheaper is easy. Making a cheaper ad that still beats your creator is the only part that pays.
This MakeUGC AI review is written for the Shopify owner or two-person ads team who already knows UGC sells the product and has run out of patience with the production side. It prices MakeUGC against one hired creator at four ads a week, shows what real users say on Trustpilot after the first charge, and hands you a 7-day plan for the $1 trial.
MakeUGC is worth the $1 trial when your bottleneck is the number of UGC variations, not finding the angle. Go in with a credit budget per video and a cancellation plan, because MakeUGC publishes no credit cost per video and half of its Trustpilot reviews are about being charged after cancelling.
Only want the monthly math? Jump to the four-ads-a-week comparison. Worried about the card on file? Read the Trustpilot and refund sections first.

Key takeaways for stores shipping UGC ads every week
- Price the plan by credits, not by the headline. Start up is $59 for 500 credits, Growth $79 for 1,000 and Pro $149 for 2,000, with Pro's first charge at $1. Growth and Pro cost almost the same per credit, while Start up costs about 50% more.
- Set a credit budget per video before you generate anything. MakeUGC charges credits by model, duration and resolution but shows no per-video table, and unused credits expire at the end of each month.
- At weekly volume, the math beats a creator. 17 videos a month from one creator on Influee comes to about $1,295. MakeUGC Pro is $149. The saving is only real if a usable video fits your credit budget.
- Plan your cancellation on day one. Of 198 Trustpilot reviews, 46% are 5-star and 50% are 1-star, and most 1-star reviews describe charges after cancelling. Screenshot every cancellation and get it confirmed by email.
- Keep one human creator as your control. Four creator videos plus MakeUGC Pro costs $628.80 a month, about half the all-creator route, and gives you a benchmark to judge every AI ad against.
Why you can trust this MakeUGC review
I've spent the last 5 years running Meta and TikTok ads for small ecommerce stores, and I've lost count of how many times I've briefed a creator, waited a week, and got back a video with the hook buried at second eight. So when AI UGC tools started promising the same video for five bucks, I really wanted to try them. I also wanted to know where the catch was.
This year I've gone down the rabbit hole with Creatify, HeyGen, invideo and a bunch of other AI UGC tools. With MakeUGC, I did what I'd tell a friend to do before handing over a card: read the pricing page line by line, read the trial and refund rules (the boring part where your money actually lives), did the math against paying a real creator.
What MakeUGC does for a store that runs UGC ads
MakeUGC is an AI UGC video ad generator built around three steps: write your script, pick an avatar, generate the video. The homepage claims 1,000+ AI actors and 50+ languages, and its languages page names 29 of them, from English and Spanish to Tagalog and Tamil. Check your market is on that named list before you plan a multilingual test.
Talking-actor ads for the weeks no creator is free
You write the script or let the built-in writer draft it. Every paid plan includes unlimited AI scripts, and the Ad Toolkit page adds a hook generator it says was trained on "10,000+ winning ads." Pick an AI actor, generate, then finish captions, music and B-roll in the built-in editor. This is the job MakeUGC does most directly: a new face reading a new hook, without booking anyone.
Product in hand, for products that have to be seen
A talking head alone rarely sells a physical product. Product in hand fixes that: upload a product image or paste a URL, describe the scene, and an AI actor holds your product while speaking. The feature sits on Pro only, so price in $149 a month if this is your reason to buy.

A custom avatar when the founder is the face of the brand
When your best ads feature you, the custom AI avatar learns your look, voice and gestures from a short clip of you speaking, and MakeUGC says it is ready "in a few minutes." Its Custom Avatar Policy forbids using anyone's likeness without signed consent, so it works for you or a team member who agrees, not for a creator you once paid.
Batch Mode, AI Workflows and the Content Library for variations of a winner
Once one structure works, the job becomes volume. Batch Mode (Growth and up) generates many versions at once, and every paid plan runs up to 10 videos and 10 images in parallel. AI Workflows chains a brief, a script and a render on a node canvas, with ready templates such as "Skincare Product in Hand." The Content Library lets you recreate formats MakeUGC says have performed by adding your product image and dialogue. Exports go up to HD, 2K and 4K.
MakeUGC pricing: what $59, $79 and $149 buy a weekly UGC store
MakeUGC pricing is credit-based: a monthly subscription with a fixed pot of credits, and every paid plan starts with a $1 trial. The table shows monthly billing on 30 September 2026.

Per credit, Growth and Pro are almost the same price: 7.9 cents against 7.45 cents. Start up costs about 50% more per credit and only gets selected models. For a store making video every week, Start up is the plan that looks cheapest and works out most expensive.
The pricing page also runs an Unlimited promo: 30 days of unlimited Seedance 2.5 and 365 days on listed image models. Unlimited does not start during the $1 trial, only once your first full billing cycle begins, and it runs in the standard queue while credits use the priority queue. So the trial shows you credit costs, not what Unlimited feels like at volume.
When credits run out, you can upgrade or buy credit packs without changing your plan. The Ad Toolkit page also sells a separate $299 a month offer with 5,000 credits and 500 video hooks, about 6 cents a credit. Compare both pages before picking a plan.
The credit budget per video to carry into the trial
MakeUGC's FAQ says each generation costs credits "depending on the model, duration, and resolution," with no table behind it. So set your own ceiling. At 17 finished videos a month, regenerations included, you can spend about:
- Pro, 2,000 credits: 117 credits per finished video
- Growth, 1,000 credits: 59 credits per finished video
- Start up, 500 credits: 29 credits per finished video
The only per-video price MakeUGC publishes is "as low as $5 video" on its Ad Toolkit page. At Pro's rate, $5 is about 67 credits, and "as low as" means the cheapest setup, not a 4K product-in-hand ad. Write your ceiling down before the trial. It is what turns a vague credit system into a yes or no.
Is MakeUGC cheaper than a UGC creator? The four-ads-a-week math
Every AI UGC tool sells itself against the cost of a human creator, so the creator number you compare against decides the result. MakeUGC's Ad Toolkit page says "The average cost for 1 UGC video is $247," without naming a source. Influee, a creator marketplace that publishes its rates, puts the average 30-second UGC video in the US at $57, based on its active campaigns.

The $57 is the creator's fee only. On Influee you also pay a platform subscription (Starter is $229 a month for up to 10 creators) and a 10% marketplace fee on creator payments, and the product you ship to each creator is not returned. That is the realistic creator number to compare against.

Creator only: $1,295 and one face all month
On Influee's numbers, one creator making 17 videos costs $969 in fees, $96.90 in marketplace fees and $229 for the subscription: $1,294.90, or about $76 a video. You also get one face, one voice and one filming style for the whole month. For hook testing that is a real limit, because the person on screen is part of the hook.
MakeUGC only: $149, if the credits stretch
MakeUGC Pro costs about 11.5% of the creator route, roughly what two creator videos cost once the fee is added. The catch is the credit ceiling above. If a usable video takes more than 117 credits on Pro, you are buying packs in week three and the gap narrows.
Hybrid: one creator for proof, MakeUGC for variations
This is the split worth running. Pay one creator for four videos a month ($479.80 with subscription and fee) and treat them as your control ads. Use MakeUGC Pro ($149) for the other 13: new hooks, new AI actors, new languages. Total: $628.80, about half the all-creator route, with a human benchmark every month.
It also answers the question no sales page can. If the AI variations never beat the creator control on click-through rate or CPA, you know within a month, and $149 was the price of finding out.
The $1 trial, refund window and ownership rules to read before paying
MakeUGC's legal pages carry dates, which makes them easy to hold to. Two of the rules below cannot be undone once triggered, so read them before checkout.
One $1 trial per person or company, with a 100% penalty charge
The Trial Policy (effective 2 January 2026) allows one trial "per individual or per legal entity," and treats a shared card, shared billing address, VPN or IP masking as abuse. If MakeUGC decides abuse "has occurred or is likely to have occurred," it can charge 100% of the monthly fee immediately, with no refund or chargeback for that charge. For a small team on one company card, pick one person and one account.

Three business days: the refund window versus "no questions asked"
The Refund Policy (last updated 4 September 2025) gives a full refund only if you ask within three business days of purchase or renewal and have not substantially used your credits. After that:
- Under 50% of credits used: a 50% refund "may be granted."
- 50% or more used: no refund. On a 2,000-credit plan, 1,000 credits is enough to lose it.
- Plan active over two weeks, or older than one month: no refund.
- Requests go to [email protected]. A processing fee may apply, and refunds can take up to 10 business days.

A refund also closes the account for good: credits are revoked and all videos are "permanently deleted (non-reversible)." Download anything you want to keep first. The Ad Toolkit page promises a refund with "no questions asked," which is looser than the policy, so if the refund matters to you, get the terms for your plan confirmed in writing before paying.
Who owns a MakeUGC video, and the testimonial rule for AI actors
The Terms of Service (section 3.2) assign you the copyright in your outputs, with a licence that survives cancellation if you followed the terms. Two clauses matter for UGC ads. Outputs "may not be unique," so another brand could run an ad with the same AI actor. And the Fair Use Policy forbids using outputs to "fabricate testimonials."
An AI actor saying "I've used this for three months" is a scripted performance. Write AI ads as product demos or voiceover reviews, keep first-person customer stories for real customers, and add AI disclosure wherever your ad platform or local law asks for it. One more setting: MakeUGC may use your inputs to train its models, and the opt-out is an email to [email protected].
Does MakeUGC convert? A 7-day test plan for the $1 trial
MakeUGC's homepage testimonials report results such as "$19K in ad spend" turning into "$69K in total sales with a 3.73x ROAS." Its own Terms disclaim any guarantee of "commercial performance or ad results," and a ROAS figure depends on the product, offer, audience and margin behind it. The only conversion number that means anything for your store is the one from your own account, and evaluating the ROI of AI-generated UGC ads walks through exactly which numbers to track once a test like this is live. Here is a plan you can copy before paying.
- Pick the control. Choose one product with a creator ad already running on Facebook or TikTok. Write down its hook rate (3-second plays divided by impressions), CTR and CPA for the last 14 days.
- Write three scripts. The control ad's script word for word, plus two new hooks with the same body and call to action.
- Generate six videos. Each script with two AI actors, 9:16 vertical, product in hand if you are on Pro.
- Log every credit. Note the balance before and after each generation, including rejects. Divide credits spent by usable videos and compare with your ceiling.
- Launch in the same ad set. Run the usable AI videos next to the creator control with the same budget split, audience and offer for 7 days.
- Judge on three numbers: hook rate, CTR and CPA against the control. Ignore likes and comments.
- Decide before renewal. If the AI versions lose on all three and blow your credit ceiling, cancel in account settings, screenshot it, and email for confirmation.
Keep the control's script word for word in step 2. The AI actor lowers the cost of a variation, but the reason a viewer stops scrolling is still the hook, the claim and the offer. Changing only the actor is how you learn what the actor is worth.
Who MakeUGC fits, and who should keep paying a creator
MakeUGC fits your store when:
- You ship at least one new UGC ad a week, and creator fees are most of your cost per ad.
- You already have a winning creator ad whose structure you want to copy with new hooks and faces.
- You sell a physical product that reads well in one hand-held shot, and you will pay for Pro to get product in hand.
- You run ads in several of the 29 named languages and cannot afford a creator per market.
Keep paying a creator, or run the hybrid, when:
- Your category depends on proof a scripted actor cannot give: skincare before and after, supplements, anything where a real customer's result is the ad.
- You need a firm refund window or predictable billing to justify the purchase internally.
- Your team shares one card and cannot guarantee a single trial.
- You need a fixed per-video price to set a budget.
The lesson for any AI UGC tool: price the winning ad, not the video
Almost any AI UGC tool is cheaper per video than a creator. That comparison is easy to win and says little. The number that decides your budget is cost per ad that beats your control: every generation, rejects included, divided by the ads that survive a week of spend.
An illustration, not a measurement: a creator at $76 a video with one winner in four costs $304 per winner. An AI tool at $10 a video with one winner in twenty costs $200 per winner, but it also took twenty ads' worth of test budget to find it. The subscription is the small part of that bill. Work out credits and test dollars per winning ad before you compare subscription prices.
MakeUGC alternatives for weekly UGC ad production
Each option below closes a different job. None of them copies MakeUGC's mix of product in hand, custom avatars and a workflow canvas.
Promer AI, for UGC ads built from product context
Promer AI is an AI ad creative performance platform for ecommerce advertisers, and it starts from a different place. MakeUGC opens on the script. Promer AI opens on the product: paste a product URL from Shopify, Amazon or any store, or upload an image, and it pulls the image, name, description and price.

Set against what this review found about MakeUGC's own trial and billing, the differences that matter most:
- Starts from the product, not a blank script field. MakeUGC opens on a script you write or generate. Promer AI's AI UGC video generator pulls the product's image, name, description, and price first, then builds the video idea from that.

- No subscription trap to escape. MakeUGC's $1 trial auto-bills at the full plan price unless you cancel inside the window, and about half its Trustpilot reviews describe being charged after cancelling. Promer AI's Free plan runs on credits with no trial-to-subscription conversion to track.

- Script reviewed before rendering. AI UGC Ads writes a scene-by-scene script you see before any avatar or voice is chosen, the same checkpoint this review's own 7-day test plan is built around catching mistakes at.

- Publish straight to a connected account. Finished videos push to a connected Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok account from the same screen they were generated on.

- Free credits cover a static ad, not video. The Free plan's roughly 30 credits render a static ad for the same product; reaching a publishable AI UGC Ads video needs a paid plan.

Promer AI's AI UGC Ads suggests the video idea (hook, message, visual, CTA) in one of five formats, from Direct Testimonial to Problem and Solution, then writes that scene-by-scene script before you pick an AI avatar and AI voice. Output is a 15-second, 9:16 video in 720 HD. When you already have a winning video ad, AI Video Ad Clone rebuilds its scene structure around a new product.
If the job is a steady weekly supply of product ads where the angle comes from your product page, Promer AI (3,000+ merchants, 1M+ ads generated) is worth running next to it. Like any AI tool, its output can contain mistakes, so review each ad before spend goes behind it. Try this AI ad generator on your own product; the Free plan's roughly 30 credits are enough to test a static ad before paying for video credits.
Creatify, the avatar video specialist
Creatify is the closest like-for-like option, and easier to budget. Its free plan gives 10 monthly credits it says make "around 2 video ads," with watermarked exports. Starter is $39 a month for 100 credits and 300 AI actors. Pick Creatify for a free plan and a stated estimate before paying; pick MakeUGC when product in hand and custom avatars matter more. Our Creatify review covers its credits and refund terms.
CapCut, the free editing baseline
When you already get footage from creators or customers and only need to cut, caption and resize it, start with CapCut. Its online editor is free to try with no credit card, adds auto captions and text to speech, and exports HD video without a watermark. The creator stays in the loop, and CapCut turns the raw clip into a Reels or TikTok ad.
MakeUGC AI review verdict: cheaper than a creator, proven only by your own test
MakeUGC is cheaper than one hired creator at weekly volume on any published number. Whether it converts for your store, and whether a usable video fits your credit budget, you only learn by testing it against a creator control.
Before you pay the $1, write down three things: your control ad's hook rate, CTR and CPA; your plan's credit ceiling per video; and the date the trial converts. Run the 7-day test. If the AI videos stay inside your ceiling and match the control on CPA, move to Pro and run the hybrid. If not, cancel, screenshot it, email for confirmation, and ask within three business days of any charge if you want your money back.
FAQ
Is MakeUGC legit?
Yes, MakeUGC is a real AI UGC video tool with public pricing and dated legal terms. Its Terms name Cinnamon Technology Limited and its Trial Policy names Make Media Limited, both at 45 Fitzroy Street, London. The product works for many users, but on 30 September 2026 half of its 198 Trustpilot reviews were one-star billing complaints, so screenshot every cancellation.
What do MakeUGC reviews say?
MakeUGC AI reviews on Trustpilot are split almost in half: 46% five-star and 50% one-star across 198 reviews. Positive reviews from ecommerce sellers praise realistic AI actors and not having to chase creators. Most one-star reviews describe charges continuing after cancelling a trial or subscription. Trustpilot currently shows no MakeUGC score because of a guideline breach.
How much does MakeUGC cost?
MakeUGC costs $59, $79 or $149 a month for Start up, Growth and Pro on monthly billing, as of 30 September 2026. Start up includes 500 credits, Growth 1,000 and Pro 2,000, with 3,000 and 5,000 options on Pro. Every paid plan starts with a $1 trial, Enterprise is custom, and a separate Ad Toolkit offer lists 5,000 credits for $299 a month. Credits expire monthly.
Does MakeUGC have a free trial?
MakeUGC has a $1 trial, not a free plan. The trial is limited to one per person or company, and the Trial Policy lets MakeUGC charge the full monthly fee at once if it suspects a second trial. Unlimited generation does not apply during the trial. Check the trial length and credits at checkout and set a reminder before it converts.
Can I get a refund from MakeUGC?
MakeUGC gives a full refund only if you ask within three business days of purchase or renewal and have not substantially used your credits. Under 50% credit use may get a 50% refund, 50% or more gets none, and plans active over two weeks are non-refundable. A refund permanently deletes your account and videos, so download them first and email [email protected].
Is MakeUGC cheaper than hiring a UGC creator?
Yes, at weekly volume MakeUGC Pro costs about 11.5% of one creator hired through Influee. Seventeen 30-second videos a month at Influee's $57 US average, plus the $229 Starter plan and 10% fee, come to $1,294.90. MakeUGC Pro is $149. The real saving depends on how many credits a usable video takes, so set a credit ceiling before you start.
Can you use MakeUGC videos in paid ads?
Yes, MakeUGC's Terms assign you the copyright in your outputs for commercial use. Outputs may resemble other users' videos, and the Fair Use Policy forbids using AI actors to fabricate testimonials. Script AI actors as product demos or voiceover reviews, and add AI disclosure wherever your ad platform or local law requires it.
What is a good MakeUGC alternative for ecommerce UGC ads?
Promer AI suits UGC ads built from your product page, Creatify suits buyers who want a free plan, and CapCut suits editing creator footage. Promer AI's AI UGC Ads starts from a product URL or image, suggests the video idea in one of five formats, and writes a scene-by-scene script before rendering a 15-second 9:16 video. MakeUGC keeps the edge on 4K export and custom avatars.
